Die hohe Temperatur- und Korrosionsbeständigkeit von Platin in Verbindung mit der Festigkeit und Härte von Iridium machen diese Legierung für elektrische Hochtemperaturkontakte und Tiegel für den Umgang mit korrosiven Chemikalien nützlich. Diese Legierung wird aufgrund ihrer Widerstandsfähigkeit gegen elektrische Erosion auch häufig für die Spitzen von Zündkerzen verwendet.
